LOWLAND

İskoçya’nın güneyinde, İngiltere’nin kuzeyinde Edinburgh ve Glasgow’u da kapsayan Dundee ve Greenock yaylaları arasındaki bölgedir.

Ilıman iklimi ve düz arazisi, bu bölge viskilerinin tadının daha tahılsı, otsu, meyvemsi ve çiçek balı aromalı olarak anılmasını sağlar. İklimin ve coğrafi şartların dışında büyük bakır imbiklerin kullanımı da bu bölge viskilerinin içimlerini rahatlaştırmaktadır. Hatta bu bölgede Auchentoshan gibi üreticiler viskileri 3 kere damıtmaktadırlar. 3 kere damıtım yine bu bölge viskilerine daha ince bir gövde kazandırmaktadır. Lowland maltları; is yapısı en düşük olan malt viskilerdir. Bence malt viskiye başlayacaklar için ideal bir çıkış noktasıdır.

It is the area between Dundee and the Greenock Highlands in the south of Scotland and the north of England, including Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The mild climate and flat terrain make the taste of whiskies from this region more grainy, herbaceous, fruity and floral honey flavoured. Apart from the climate and geographical conditions, the use of large copper retorts also makes the whiskies of this region more comfortable to drink. Even in this region, producers such as Auchentoshan distil their whiskies 3 times. 3 times distillation also gives the whiskies of this region a thinner body. Lowland malts are the malt whiskies with the lowest soot structure. I think it is an ideal starting point for those who will start malt whisky.
