JOHNNIE WALKER SELECT CASK 10 YEARS

   Yine 2016’nın son çeyreğinde lansmanının yapıldığı J.Walker ailesinin yeni üyelerinden birisi “Select Cask”.

O da genç kardeşi sayılabilecek “Blender’s Batch” gibi olgunlaşma sürecinin büyük bir bölümünü Bourbon meşe fıçılarda, son dönemini ise çavdar viskilerinin olgunlaşmasında kullanılan meşe fıçılarda geçirmiş. En genci on yıl olan viskilerin harmanlanmasıyla oluşturulan bu yeni üye %46 alkol derecesine sahip.

Burunda ilk dikkat çeken tatlımsı bir hava. Kurutulmuş ananas, vanilya, karamelize edilmiş portakal kabuğu bu tatlı havanın sebepleri. Bu tatlımsılığı tarçın ile isimlendirebileceğimiz baharatsılık ve bir nane ferahlığı desteklemekte.

Damakta %46 lık alkol hemen hissedilmekte. İlk yudumdan sonra ısınma hissiyle beraber damağı kurutan bir yapısı var. Puro kutusundan bitter çikolata ile kakaoya oradan da tatlılıktan acımsılığa doğru ilerleyen baharatımsı notlara rastlamak mümkün. Burunda olduğu gibi karamelize olmuş portakal kabukları da damağın meyvemsi tarafı.

Yudum alındıktan sonra baharatlar ile başlayan vanilya etkisi giderek azalıyor. Tatlı, daha kuru ve portakalımsı orta uzunlukta bir bitişi var.

  “Select Cask” is one of the new members of the J.Walker family, which was also launched in the last quarter of 2016.

Like its younger sibling “Blender’s Batch”, it has spent most of its maturation process in Bourbon oak barrels and the last period in oak barrels used for the maturation of rye whiskies. This new member, which was created by blending whiskeys whose youngest age is ten years, has an alcohol level of 46%.

The first thing that attracts attention on the nose is the sweetness. Dried pineapple, vanilla, caramelised orange peel are the reasons for this sweetness. This sweetness is supported by the spiciness that we can name with cinnamon and a mint freshness.

On the palate, 46% alcohol is felt immediately. After the first sip, it has a structure that dries the palate with a warming sensation. From the cigar box, it is possible to find spicy notes progressing from dark chocolate and cocoa to sweetness and bitterness. As in the nose, caramelised orange peels are the fruity side of the palate.

After a sip, the vanilla effect that starts with spices gradually decreases. It has a sweet, drier and orangey mid-length finish.
